ABOUT GGRF:

Girls Gotta Run Foundation is the first and only organization investing in girls who are using running and education to empower themselves and their communities in Ethiopia. Founded in 2007, GGRF is dedicated to using the national sport of running as an innovative approach to creating safe spaces, ending child marriage, and expanding access to secondary school for vulnerable girls. GGRF programs focus on four key investment strategies for girls and their mothers: education, running, life skills, and savings and entrepreneurship. SUMMARY:

The Executive Director is the key management leader of Girls Gotta Run Foundation (GGRF). The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the implementation of fundraising and partnerships, programs, and the strategic plan of the organization in service of the mission and vision of Girls Gotta Run Foundation. Other key duties include managing the financial performance and viability of the organization, organization operations, and board governance. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fundraising and Partnerships: Raises funds and cultivates quality partnerships needed to reach organizational goals.

  • Responsible for raising funds to reach annual budget and long term organizational goals

  • Responsible for developing and implementing fundraising strategy

  • Designs, implements and oversees fundraising campaigns and events

  • Stewards current donor partnerships and secures new partnerships in service of the organization

  • Oversees the organizational brand, fundraising, and marketing communications included but not limited to the website, newsletter, and social media accounts.

  • Works with GGRF partners to identify and complete grant submission.

Program Management: Works with staff and partners to ensure quality and impactful programming, delivering on the GGRF mission.

  • Responsible for the development and oversight of GGRF programs in Ethiopia

  • Works with program partners to ensure quality programming and financial transparency

  • Prepares annual and semi annual reports with program partners to deliver to the GGRF Board

  • Mitigates challenges and changes in program locations and partners

  • Completes Program evaluation and reporting

Organization Mission and Strategy: Works with the board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach.

  • Responsible for implementation of GGRF’s programs that carry out the organization’s mission.

  • Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that GGRF can successfully fulfill its mission into the future.

  • Responsible for the enhancement of GGRF’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other organizational partners.

Financial Performance and Viability: Develops resources and plans sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.

  • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of GGRF. Including submission to the Board a proposed annual budget in partnership with the GGRF Treasurer.

  • Responsible for fiscal management operating within the approved budget and ensuring maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.

  • Responsible for fundraising and developing other resources necessary to support GGRF’s mission.

Organization Operations: Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are appropriate to the mission of GGRF

  • Responsible effective administration of GGRF’s operations.

  • Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff, consultants, and volunteers.

  • Responsible for signing all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization.

Board Governance: Works with the board in order to fulfill the organization mission.

  • Responsible for leading the GGRF Board of Directors in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.

  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.

  • Organizes and helps to lead quarterly Board meetings

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, advanced degree preferred.

  • 3-5 years senior nonprofit management and fundraising experience

  • Highest standards for integrity, honesty, and transparency

  • Demonstrated budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting

  • Demonstrated organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation

  • Ability to convey a vision of GGRF’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donors in writing, speaking, and modeling the values of the organization

  • Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector

  • Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups

  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff

  • Strong public speaking ability

  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial and able to work in collaboration with diverse groups.
